Associação Onda do Norte

Associação Onda do Norte (AON) is a surf and bodyboard club founded in 2008, based in Matosinhos and affiliated with the Portuguese Surfing Federation. It focuses on training, competition and community life around the sea, and claims more than 30 national titles, 2 world titles, 5 European titles and 2 Portuguese Club Cups.

Its training programme, Academia Onda do Norte, is for surf and bodyboard athletes who have completed the initiation level or can show equivalent experience: guided training, technical follow-up and groups matched to level. The staff includes Sebastião Furtado (grade III surf coach, national junior selector), Nuno Azevedo (grade II bodyboard and surf coach) and president Manuel Centeno (bodyboarder, 2-time world champion).

The club also organises competitions, training camps, surf trips, technical clinics and summer camps with its partner school Linha de Onda, which serves as the meeting point.
