About the craftsman

Eric Rouge Surfboards is the craft custom surfboard workshop of Éric Rougé in Anglet in the Basque Country, at 7 allée Louis de Foix, near the marina. Éric has been a shaper for over thirty years and refined his skills with renowned shapers such as John Carper, Steve Wilson, Eric Arakawa, Pat Rawson, Phil Byrne and Greg Glouh.

A big-wave surfer, known as a big rider, he has surfed in Hawaii, Indonesia, California, Australia, Portugal, Morocco and Central America, and his favourite playground remains the Basque and Landes coast (Madrague, Guéthary, Belharra). The workshop is open all year: Éric assesses each customer's surfing to define the most suitable board, and visitors are advised to allow a good hour for the meeting.

The website offers custom boards, second-hand boards, repairs (within 48 hours for minor damage) and surf lessons. According to the workshop's Google listing it is open every day from 10 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 7 pm.
