The first edition of the Dakhla Drifter Defi, an international long-distance race born from a partnership between the Dakhla Hospitality Group and the Défi Wind. Kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf riders start together, on one start line and one course, with separate rankings per discipline. Each rider picks a single discipline for the whole event: kitesurf, kitefoil, wingfoil, parawing or fin windsurf.
The playground is the Dakhla lagoon and its Dragon Island, on courses of up to 40 km. The race welcomes amateurs as well as pros, but it is no beginner's event: it calls for a solid level, real self-reliance in open water and personal insurance covering racing in Morocco. There are 300 places, 100 per discipline to begin with. Base camp is at Dakhla Attitude, with registration, race control and the compulsory daily briefings; shuttles connect it to PK25, Lagon Energy and Les Dunes. French rider Erwan Jauffroy is the event's patron.
Entries are online only and opened on 1 October 2026. Taking part is a package: your entry is confirmed once you have booked a room in one of the group's hotels.
