Overview

Perkpolder is a kitesurf spot on the southern bank of the Westerschelde (Western Scheldt), a major tidal estuary near the Belgian border. Flat to choppy water with strong tidal currents. South-facing shore — works best with N/NE/NW wind. One of the Westerschelde's 9 official NKV kite zones.

⚠️ Intermediate minimum — strong tidal currents in the Westerschelde. Shells and oysters on the seabed (booties essential). Tide-dependent access: kiteable approx. 2 hours either side of high tide. Shipping lane offshore — stay in zone. The Westerschelde is a highly active shipping channel to Antwerp (some of the largest container ships in the world pass here). Beautiful estuarine landscape.
