Orvile is a kitesurf spot on the northeast coast of Sardinia, between La Caletta and Orosei. The bay offers a varied wind window, receiving the Maestrale (northwest), the Levante (southeast) and southerly winds. The sandy beach is relatively quiet outside the summer peak, offering a relaxed riding environment. The crystal-clear water typical of this stretch of Sardinian coast is a major draw. A solid all-round spot for intermediate riders.
Pittulongu is a tourist beach near Olbia with several kite launch zones along its sandy stretch. Kite schools operate here in summer with marked areas. Ride downwind along the coast and walk back. The beach is well-organised with beach bars and services. Convenient for riders staying in Olbia or catching a flight.
Open sea with moderate chop of 0.2 to 0.6m in thermal conditions, up to 0.8m in Maestrale. Sandy and rocky bottom alternating — stay in the sandy sections. Clean and warm water. The Gulf of Olbia provides a relatively smooth sea surface in northwest and northeast wind conditions.

Open all year round
Open year-round. Main season: May to October. Kite schools open June to September. Peak season July-August — arrive early to secure a good launching spot. Olbia airport is 10 minutes away — one of the most accessible spots in northeast Sardinia.
Parking near the beach at Orvile, accessible from local roads off the SS125. Limited services on site — restaurants and shops in La Caletta or Siniscola nearby.
Rocky coastline at both ends of the beach — stay in the sandy central section. Wind acceleration around the headland possible. Boat traffic from the nearby marina of Orvile. Check weather forecasts carefully as wind can be unpredictable.
Pittulongu benefits from both the Maestrale (northwest) and the reliable northeast thermal sea breeze that develops on summer afternoons from noon to 6pm, typically 12 to 22 knots. The Maestrale provides stronger synoptic sessions of 18 to 30 knots. Being close to Olbia, some turbulence near the shoreline is possible due to buildings — move offshore for cleaner air. Overall a very reliable and consistent spot.
