Overview

Kitesurf spot at Plage Cartier, in the Port-Cartier area on the North Shore. This long sand beach offers access to the Gulf of St. Lawrence with southern exposure. Port-Cartier is an industrial and port town that nonetheless offers a wild and open riding environment. The Gulf is immense at this point, offering virtually unlimited fetch southward. The beach is wide and clear, ideal for launching.

Gulf of St. Lawrence, North Shore. Cold salt water (6-12°C in summer), 5/3 wetsuit recommended. Moderate tides (1-2m). Virtually unlimited fetch southward. Gulf waves possible in sustained wind. Sandy bottom. Coastal and tidal currents. Conditions can be powerful in sustained south wind.
