Fernwood is a kitesurf spot located on the north coast of Prince Edward Island, in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. This beach offers beautiful stretches of the island's typical red sand, with dunes protecting the back beach. The spot benefits from prevailing southwest and westerly winds that blow regularly in summer. Northerly winds create chop and small waves that are interesting for more experienced riders. The tide influences the available riding area. The kitesurf season runs from June to September. The spot is suitable for intermediate riders, with enough space to ride safely. The water warms up nicely in summer thanks to Gulf currents.
