Huisduinen is an advanced kitesurf spot at the northern tip of Noord-Holland, near Den Helder — the gateway to the Waddenzee and the Razende Bol (Noorderhaaks) sandbar adventure. North Sea beach with strong, consistent winds and powerful currents from the Marsdiep channel.
⚠️ Strong tidal currents from the Marsdiep (one of the most current-exposed points on the Dutch coast). The Razende Bol sandbar lies offshore — reachable by experienced riders for an epic wild flatwater session, but requires expert kite skills and good conditions knowledge. Waddenzee navigation rules apply beyond this point. Advanced level minimum. Den Helder navy base area nearby.
Beach parking at Huisduinen. GPS: Huisduinen, Den Helder, Noord-Holland. Access via N9/N250 to Den Helder then Huisduinen. For Razende Bol: start here with NW/W wind, cross the Marsdiep — expert only, no rescue on the Razende Bol. Check Waddenzee navigation rules.
North Sea — choppy to medium waves. Strong Marsdiep tidal currents. No standing area. Cold year-round. Razende Bol: flat sand at low tide but dangerous crossing. Advanced minimum.
Advanced
Open all year round
Advanced only — strongest currents of the Noord-Holland coast near Den Helder/Waddenzee entrance. Waddenzee shipping rules apply. Razende Bol sandbar visible offshore — expert-only crossing. Rocks/stones possible. Wetsuit + booties required.
SW/W/NW/N all work. NW/W best for Razende Bol crossing. Strong and consistent wind at this northern tip. Year-round. Expert sessions to Razende Bol: only in 15–22 knots (too much = dangerous crossing). Check tidal timing carefully.
